Notes from a holiday weekend. . . where the husband was oddly NOT working!!

Happy Memorial Day!!
I hope you took time to appreciate the soldiers who have served and are serving us to this day.
And thank goodness for the appliance sales, since our refrigerator decided to die . . and now we have a nice new one. Other than that we went to the movie theatre to see the new Pirate movie and had a picnic with Jason and Daniela. The movie was very fun. Another cute movie the kids have enjoyed is Arthur and the Invisibles.
Heather had one of her last soccer games of the year and though we aren't supposed to have winners and losers at this age (WE WON~~). It was our first win of the year and they all played so well together it was very fun to watch.
Soon I go to Maine for "work" . . .it is a tough job but someone has to suffer through it. . . can't wait!!

Questions :)

A pig named Haggie asked me these questions so I have to answer them . .

1. Where would you live if you could go Anywhere in the world? and Why?
Honestly, I am very happy living here in the Shenandoah valley of Virginia. However, there are MANY places I would like to travel to like Europe, Africa, Australia, Japan, Hawaii, Alaska, etc. . .I am happy living here because I am near a beautiful national park and everywhere we go is a pretty drive, also the people here are very friendly, hard-working and down to earth. Besides, we have a lot of family in the area and we wouldn't see them if we moved very far away.

2. What does a "Mom's day out" Look like to you? (HINT : NO kids or hubby) LOL
Uh, that one is easy. A day to roam in Maine with Yubby. It would have to be a reeeaaallly long day so that we could outlet shop, stroll in a small coastal town, and hang out on the beach - I think we are too old to think we will swim in that frigid water. But we would have to start with good snacks for the car!

3. What is you favorite Meal that Your Mom used to serve?
That would be Chicken Divan first and then Chicken Salad with apples

4. If you could go on any reality TV show, what would you pick?
Survivor!! Still watching after all of these years . . . .I would love the challenges

5. If you wrote a love song for yer hubby, or kids, what famous singer would you pick to sing it, and why?
George Strait - he is pretty classy.

If you want me to ask you 5 questions for your blog send me a note :)

Howdy . .

So, I haven't posted in a while. But I have been keeping up with all of your notes. Here is a bit of what we have been doing

Caleb: Working (which is a lot of time in the beginning of the month since he works at night and is in court by day). And he has been doing overtime for said "extra expenses" we are experiencing . .read on :) Also updating my pond with water plants . . you should see my water lilly it oh soo cute! And now we have some new ornamental grasses around it too. That is the constructive side of him. On the destructive side, we have no shower surround in the hall bathroom. The faucet broke inside the wall and that was the only way to turn off the water. So, now we contemplate what to replace it with.

Katie: Finishing Heather's school year, preparing for my big 10 day trip to Maine and event for work - my guest list seems to change every day and I have deadlines with the printer looming . . but I get to go to Maine soon, and I love my job!, finishing the sewing class at coop - a quilt is coming together, driving to soccer practice or games 3 times a week (good time to play with Will), gathering stuff for a yard sale that our whole neighborhood is having . .

Heather: school and soccer, playing outside, getting tooth pulled for new orthodontics - I guess she didn't get my teeth :) she is so brave!

Will: building things out of legos, or playing on the computer, pretending to be a pirate

Here is a picture of one of the many joys we have had - the mom and baby bird outside Heather's window
So in the name of a quilt block - we have plenty of "sunshine", maybe some "shadow" but it makes the sunshine seem brighter :)
